Mission Statement
The mission of LISC Chicago is to organize capital and other resources to support initiatives that will stimulate the comprehensive development of healthy, stable neighborhoods and foster their connection to the socioeconomic mainstream of the metropolitan region.
To promote this mission, LISC Chicago will:
• Provide technical expertise, information and training in the field of community development.
• Promote policies, networks, relationships and resources that enhance neighborhood development.
• Invest high-risk capital in a comprehensive programof neighborhood development, including but not limited to housing, commercial and industrial development, community facilities, open space, education and employment.
• Invest in community development organizations, neighborhood institutions, public agencies and private sector companies in Cook County, while taking advantage of opportunities as they arise throughout the entire six-county metropolitan area.
• Create measurement instruments by which to assess the health and stability of the invested neighborhoods and to gauge the effectiveness of the investments.
• Enhance its reputation as the intermediary of choice for corporations, foundations and other funders committed to neighborhood revitalization in order to maintain a sound and growing capital base.
