Community Showcase Tours
LISC Community Showcase Tours is an online festival that promotes the diverse cultural and commercial attractions in Chicago neighborhoods through multimedia projects researched and created by neighborhood leaders.
Developed with the Chicago Department of Tourism, Community Showcase uses online multimedia to connect visitors with exciting places to explore in Chicago’s neighborhoods. Whether an ethnic eatery, a local landmark building, or a place of historic significance, destinations featured in the Community Showcase Tours have been selected through the collective wisdom of the community that values, preserves and creates them.
Following on the success of the Burnham Plan Centennial Bold Plans Big Dreams Community Showcase that celebrated Chicago’s rich heritage of landmark use and design, the Community Showcase is the next step in tourism development for Chicago’s neighborhoods.
Community Showcase creations include customized digital maps, audio podcasts, video presentations, web pages and photo galleries. They are offered free to the public on ExploreChicago and LISC-supported websites to a worldwide audience.
